CHIPS OF POWER

What happens when you break a Shard?  The idea of Shards being crystals has been around for generations. It's not true, but there are stronger and weaker Shards and if they are weak enough, you have a Chip. The best theory is that Chips were created along with Shards, when the gods were destroyed. They are just the smallest bits of left over power that is capable of doing anything at all. Chips are Shards that you can only use once, and then they are extinguished. Chips are delicate. A mortal can only own 7 Chips otherwise the extras vanish and reappear somewhere else. Once one is used, they can get another. Further a mortal can only activate 7 Chips during a single day, although they could pick up another 7 but would not be able to use any of them. Chips will not change objects so if they are stolen, they are actually lost.
