Character Cards

Do you remember when you were really young and you used to battle your friends with armies of your toys? Do you remember being asked which toy was you? The Character Card is you.

Shards, Chips, Dead Cards, Magic Items - These all give you special powers beyond what a normal mortal person could have. They give you extra Hit Points which don't hurt as much to lose because it's not you. Your Character Card defines what you are when everything else is gone. The Hit Points it gives are the most important and when they go, that's when you really get hurt. (The game makes no distinction between Character Card Hit Points and any other, but for terms of roleplay and serious injury your last X Hit Points, where X are the number of Hit Points your Character Cards gives you, represent more serious wounds than the others.)

Losing your Character Card

A Character Card is not a Shard you can Burn. Only a few effects, mostly from NPCs can Burn a Character Card. Losing it is like losing your soul. You immediately become very ill the exact nature of which varies.

If your maximum Hit Points ever become 0, you become unconcious and Bleeding Out and die after 5 minutes. You can not be raised from the dead if you have 0 maximum Hit Points but you still get the Character Card back at your next Refresh (the start of any new game or new day) and then you can be Raised. Permanently losing your Character Card would result in permanent death. Besides having your Character Card Burned, some Character Cards do not provide Hit Points, which is a dangerous situation to be in to be certain.
